
The Downs of Nicholson community, a ‘Keeneland-like’ development, is ‘self-contained,’ and underway
March 10th, 2023 The plans for the Downs of Nicholson went through what could be a final revision, and those changes were approved by the Independence city council this week.
The Downs of Nicholson is designed to be a self-contained community, featuring 64 patio homes. There will be a sit-down restaurant, with a microbrewery in the same large building, and a gas station where there will be a grocery store and a deli. A Roy Rogers restaurant is also in the plans. December 12th, 2022 The newest Louisville area First Watch location has opened in the Springhurst Towne Center near the Gene Snyder Freeway.
They will be serving the freshest breakfast, brunch, and lunch daily from 7am to 2:30pm.

Customers wait outside overnight for grand opening of Louisville's first LaRosa's Pizza
January 23rd, 2023 A new pizza restaurant opened in a northeast Louisville suburb on Monday.
Several customers waited on the patio of LaRosa's Pizza at 10641 Fischer Park Drive overnight for the promise of free pizza. Only the first 50 in line got free pizza for a year. The first 200 people got a LaRosa's swag bag.
Many people who waited in line had emotional ties to LaRosa's. They say it's where their family would stop on trips and vacations to Cincinnati. Read more here.

Barleycorn's Brewhouse opens in former Wilder firehouse
August 16th, 2022 The brewery official opened Aug. 16 and will ultimately have a five-barrel brewhouse with additional 30-barrel fermentation capacity, allowing for 700 barrels to be brewed annually beginning in 2023.
“As we look to the future, we wanted to honor the nearly 50-year-old Barleycorn’s legacy and the city of Wilder’s proud heritage,” said Dillon Adams, president of One Holland. “Renovating and repurposing the old fire station into a comfortable, yet stylish brewhouse with a great restaurant does just that.” Read more here.

August 19th, 2022 Barleycorn's Brewhouse opened in the Northern Kentucky city's former fire station, located at 402 Licking Pike, this week. One Holland Restaurant Group owns the brewery, as well as three Barleycorn's sports bars in Cold Spring, Florence and Lakeside Park. Barleycorn's Brewhouse is the brand's first brewery.

First Watch opens at Holiday Manor, the popular brunch restaurant's 6th Louisville location
August 1st, 2022 First Watch opened a new location Monday in Holiday Manor next to Kroger on US 42.
The sixth First Watch in the Louisville area, this new breakfast and lunch spot is 4,200 square feet and features two patios equipped with heaters and fans for outside dining most of the year. Read more here.

Nostalgic restaurant Roy Rogers opening first NKY location
May 18th, 2022 A local restaurateur who is reviving the Roy Rogers brand in Cincinnati has selected the spot for its first Northern Kentucky restaurant.
One Holland Corp., owner of several restaurant franchises as well as Barleycorn's and the Greyhound Tavern, is building its first Northern Kentucky Roy Rogers in Florence as part of new construction that will pair the Western-themed burger restaurant with a Dunkin.

Dec 9th, 2021 The restaurant group responsible for bringing the Roy Rogers chain back to Greater Cincinnati announced Thursday it has also acquired Barleycorn's, a popular Northern Kentucky sports bar.
Taylor Mill-based One Holland Restaurant Group, which has expanded to own multiple locations of Skyline Chili, LaRosa's Pizzeria, and Dunkin' among others, said in a news release that the purchase was a natural fit.


Roy Rogers restaurants returning to Cincinnati

More pay isn't helping some Central KY employers fill jobs.
June 25, 2021 Besides increasing everyone’s pay and providing additional bonuses, Holland implemented a tuition reimbursement program that pays up to $5,200 a year for employees attending college. In the past, he said the company hired people at a starting wage of $10 to $12 an hour. Now, he said, “we don’t even bat an eye paying them $14, $15, $16” when an applicant interviewed is clearly “a people person.” Read more here.
